Tainan is an important city of Taiwan literature featuring precious literature left by the authors that came out in succession since the Kingdom of Tungning to the postwar period. The literature is the treasure of Taiwan and Tainan which shall be preserved and promoted regardless of whether it is classic literature, Taiwanese literature, or new modern literature. As Taiwan’s literature capital, Tainan has the richest literature resources and the longest literature history that makes the promotion of Taiwanese literature the unshirkable responsibility of Tainan. Thus, the Bureau has held the “Tainan Literature Festival” since 2015 to this day.

By integrating the existing literature resources in the Tainan area and connecting the surrounding literature museums, schools, communities, book stores, and local art and culture groups, the Tainan Literature Festival enriches its contents with diversified forms of activities, including the literature salon, Tainan literature camp, literature reading, original music contest, crossover interpretation of literature (play reading and drama performance), and literature exhibition.
