The main purpose of the festival is to serve as a platform for international cultural exchanges and to preserve and promote the intangible cultural assets of various countries. Through cultural exchanges, our people can increase their appreciation of different national cultures, learn to accept and respect the diversity of cultures, and create a more harmonious civil society. Also, we introduce Taiwan, Tainan and their culture to other countries. The festival has been one of the major art festivals in Tainan already. Tainan is in the southern part of Taiwan. She used to be the political and military center from 1624 to 1885. Since then, she has been the most important cultural ancient city in Taiwan. There are large numbers of cultural heritages of different types in Tainan. This background connects holding the festival.
