In May 2019, Tainan City Zuojhen Fossil Park presented a brand new appearance to the public via the integration of the original Cailiao Fossil Park and the Museum of Natural History. By changing and expanding from a single building to 5 exhibition halls, the Fossil Park combines the functions of scientific archaeology, education promotion, and tourism to display the unique natural and cultural context of the “Fossil Hometown” while forming Zuojhen as an important fossil research base.
[Hall 1] Natural History Education Hall
The hall reveals the mystery of Tsuo Chen Man, exhibits the Siraya relics including the Sinkan Manuscripts, and introduces the contribution of the “Fossil Grandpa of Taiwan” Mr. Chunmu Chen via the his lifetime of fossil finds.
[Hall 2] History HallIn the History Museum, unearthed items are exhibited on the display walls and the section models based on their location in the strata. A timeline and a map are also provided to construct a 3D art installation of the time line.
[Hall 3] Evolution HallThe hall exhibits the first marine organisms that moved onto land and the dinosaurs used to dominate the earth situated in the space demonstrating the course of evolution. The emergence of mammals in history afterward witnesses the rise and fall of lives on Earth.
[Hall 4] Fossil HallThe space exhibiting the Tsai-liao river basin is established in the Fossil Hall to explore the prehistoric life lived in the Tsai-liao River Basin 400,000~900,000 years ago. The full fossil of Hayasaka Rhinos is the most popular one among the public.
[Hall 5] Exploration HallThe Exploration Hall enables people to see the fossil restoration in the fossil lab, have a stroll viewing the evolution history of the elephants, and interact with the prehistoric life lived in the Tsai-liao River Basin drawn by you in the Magic Coloring Classroom.
