靜默之聲紀念碑的設計主要是紀念1915的噍吧年事件。作品設在面向街道入口處,並融入於現有景觀中。作品主體為耐候鋼牆面鑲崁2,833在地製作紅磚,作為在衝突期間喪生可考證的2,833位台灣受難者。參觀者可沿著牆型紀念碑步行,感受事件的景況,從而沉浸於台灣歷史中難以抹滅的ㄧ頁。這個紀念碑是一個活生生的公園、藝術作品以及一個冥想的空間,希望能喚起緬懷歷史與悼念逝者的感情共鳴。
This memorial is designed to remember the destruction of the Tapani Incident,one of the largest armed uprisings by Taiwanese Han and Aboriginals against Japanese rule in Taiwan in1915。Located at street level to allow for its integration into the fabric of the existing landscape,a strip of COR-TEN steel wall consists of 2,833 local made red bricks,serves as a sad reminder of 2,833 Taiwanese lives perished during the conflict.Walking along the memorial,visitor are removed from the sight and sounds of the town and innersed in an important chapter of Taiwan’s history.This memorial is a living park,an art work as well as a mediation space that resonates with feeling of loss and absence.
