Bee-high-fives! 2010 Yuejin Harbor Spring Lantern Festival, which was conceived by 14 participating artists from the concept of eight attractions in Yanshui to pass on the culture of Yanshui and the precious memories of the old port through creativity and art. The festival has been arranged by some experienced and professional crew of curators and also invited more artists from Taiwan and other foreign countries to celebrate this grand occasion together since 2012.

Weaving the texture of the history at Yuejin Harbor, the festival has combined the lights and the reflection on the surface of the river to build a fantastic, poetic and ethereal space from river scene, landscape and architecture. The number of the visitors keeps reaching a high point. The trend of celebrating the lantern festival on water became popular and has inspired other curations of lantern festivals in Taiwan. Apart from that, its distinctive artistry, locality and cultural depth have drawn great attention around the globe. The Yuejin Harbor Lantern Festival won The Red Dot Design Award among all the design curating groups in 2018 and was the first festival received this prestigious award in Taiwan. Moreover, some of the crew participating in the exhibition were invited to take part in several light festivals across the globe such as the Amsterdam Light Festival in the Netherlands and the Arashiyama Hanatouro Illumination in Japan. These artists share their passion and interpretation for lights by inviting each other to visit their cities to create on site.

At the beginning of each winter and each year, the glistening lights of Yanshui will be lightened up by the lantern festival. The changeful and fascinating beauty of the riverside and the great moments along with it will also be prepared for us to appreciate and enjoy.
